Professional Finishing Techniques with Guest Tutor Katherine Lymer from the Scottish Borders
After dedicating all those precious hours to create your beautifully knitted fabric, don’t let your approach to finishing and sewing-up prevent you from producing a gorgeous "hand made" – as opposed to "home made" – garment. During this class, we will focus on some of those techniques used to achieve a professional finish including sewing-up seams using mattress stitch, short-row shaping and different methods of casting on and off.
Skills focus: This class focuses on learning the skills necessary to professionally complete a garment, including sewing up seams using different versions of mattress stitch, short-row shaping and different methods of casting on and off.
(1) Tension: Measurement and Adjustment
(2) Fully Fashioning
(3) Short Row Shaping
(4) Three Needle Cast Off / Grafting by Knitting
(5) Sewing in the Ends
(7) Picking up Stitches
(8) Sewing Side Seams: Mattress Stitch
(9) Undoing the Provisional Cast On
Skills needed: Need to know how to knit and purl, decreasing.
As this is a Guest Workshop full payment must be made to book a place and this unfortunately can not be refunded.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided - maybe even cake - but you will need to bring your own packed lunch.
